HC Deb 05 March 1924 vol 170 c1387
85. Mr. RAFFETY

asked the Minister of Health if he has any information as to the number of houses of and below the B type that have been erected in England and Wales and in Scotland, since 1st January, 1919, up to 1st March, 1924, without assistance from public funds?

Mr. WHEATLEY

Information is not available on the precise point raised by the hon. Member. According to a return obtained from local authorities in England and Wales as to building by private enterprise without assistance from public funds, over 30,000 houses of not more than £26 rateable value in the provinces or £35 in the Metropolitan Police District, were completed during the year ended 30th September, 1923, and 22,281 houses of five rooms or less and 16,170 houses of six to eight rooms were in course of construction on the 30th September last. As regards information for Scotland, I would suggest that the hon. Member should address a question to my right hon. Friend the Secretary for Scotland.
