HC Deb 03 March 1924 vol 170 c957
Captain Viscount CURZON The following Question stood on the Order Paper in the name of

17. To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his attention has been drawn to the seizure on Friday last of 186 barrels and cases of liquor on board of the s.s. "Adriatic" by agents of the Treasury in the United States of America; whether this seizure is in accordance with the Treaty recently signed; whether he is aware that British ships have observed the American law in the letter and spirit, and that ships of other nationalities, such as France and Italy, have not been molested in spite of the fact that the customary alcoholic beverages are supplied as required; and whether he will make representations with regard to this apparent discrimination against a British ship?

Viscount CURZON

I have been asked to postpone this question. May I inquire whether the Government will press on with the ratification of the Treaty with America?

The PRIME MINISTER

The matter is being pressed on.
