HC Deb 30 June 1924 vol 175 cc922-3
49. Major HORE-BELISHA

asked the Prime Minister for what reasons a Government publicity officer has been appointed to act under the instructions of the chief Government whip; what the duties of this officer will be; what are the terms of his appointment; and whether he will be paid from public funds?

The PRIME MINISTER

No Government publicity officer has been appointed and there will be no charge upon public funds.

Major HORE-BELISHA

Is the report in the Press, which has been widely circulated, absolutely without foundation?

The PRIME MINISTER

I have not seen such report. What I am saying is exactly what has happened, irrespective of any newspaper reports coming from anybody.
