Mr. BARKERasked the Home Secretary if he has received a petition from the Monmouthshire County Council and other public authorities against the withdrawal of the licence of the Quaker's Yard truant school; is he aware that this institution has been in existence since 1894 without a complaint against it, that it affords easy facilities to parents to visit their boys while detained at this school, and that the population served by this school has increased by half-a-million since it was erected; and will he, therefore, in deference to the strong feeling on this question, agree to withdraw the request for the surrender of the licence?
Mr. HENDERSONI have received the petition referred to, and it is under my consideration, and I am receiving a deputation on the subject to-day. I cannot make any further statement at present.
