HC Deb 17 June 1924 vol 174 cc1935-6
9. Major EDMONDSON

(on behalf of Captain TERRELL) asked the Secretary of State for War what is the usual period for European rank and file to be stationed in Iraq; and whether any special and, if so, what precautions are taken gradually to acclimatise men sent out there from this country for the first time?

Mr. LEACH

I have been asked to reply. The answer to the first part of the question is two years or less; to the second, that drafts, after medical examination, are sent out as far as possible in the cold season so that they may become acclimatised before the hot season commences.
