§ 73. Mr. DUNNICOasked the Minister of Transport whether he is prepared to favourably consider conferring upon local authorities power to control the use of unclassified roads by heavy vehicles and with respect to the roads being utilised by heavy through traffic?
§ Mr. GOSLINGIt is open to county councils and to county borough councils to make an application to the Minister of Transport, under Section 7 (4) of the Roads Act, 1920, for an Order prohibiting or restricting the driving of vehicles of any specified class on any specified highway. A number of such Orders have been made, in each case after a public inquiry. I do not think additional powers are necessary.
