§ The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of HEALTH (Mr. Arthur Greenwood)The number of children under 16 years of age in England and Wales dependent upon parents who were in receipt of Poor Law relief on account of unemployment was about 250,000 in March of this year.

HALLasked the Minister of Health whether the Southwark board of guardians have communicated with the Ministry asking for advice as to the manner in which they shall deal with the cases of 190 able-bodied men married, with families, mostly young, who have been receiving relief for more than two years without doing any work; when this communication was received; and what is the nature of the advice tendered to the guardians on the subject?
