HC Deb 04 June 1924 vol 174 cc1248-9
75. Mr. FOOT

asked the Attorney-General whether he is now in a position to state that the operation of the Law of Property Act, 1922, which is due to come into force on 1st January, 1925, will be postponed?

The ATTORNEY - GENERAL (Sir Patrick Hastings)

I cannot add anything to the answer I gave the hon. Member on the 2nd April last, to the effect that when the Consolidation Bills are laid before this House it will be necessary to propose that the operation of the Act be postponed to the 1st January, 1926.

Mr. FOOT

May I take it from the answer that there will definitely be a postponement of the operation of this Act, having regard to the number of text books at present in course of preparation?

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL

Certainly, that is the intention.

Mr. BETTERTON

Is it proposed to postpone the whole of the Act, or only the first part of it?

The ATTORNEY - GENERAL

The w hole of the Act.
