asked the Under-Secretary of State for India how many civil surgeons are employed in the United Provinces, and of these how many are commissioned European officers?

Mr. RICHARDS

There are 50 civil surgeons in the United Provinces. On the 1st January last these included 15 European officers of the Indian Medical Service and 10 officers of the Indian Medical Department.
