HC Deb 31 July 1924 vol 176 c2240
66. Mr. MORSE

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether any payment has yet been made by the Receiver appointed by the Wessex Flax Factories, Limited, to the debenture holders; and, if not, what proportion, if any, of the assets of the company have been disposed of?

Mr. SMITH

No payments have yet been made to the debenture holders of Wessex Flax Factories, Limited, by the Receiver. In reply to the second part of the question, I understand that four of the seven factories belonging to the company have been disposed of, together with the stock in hand and the greater part of the surplus plant.

Mr. HANNON

What is the loss to the taxpayers?

Mr. SMITH

I must have notice of that question.
