HC Deb 31 July 1924 vol 176 c2226
29. Sir F. HALL

asked the Home Secretary whether native-born American subjects residing in this country are called upon to register as aliens; and, if so, whether, in view of the Measure already enforced to exclude undesirable aliens, the present arrangements can be amended to exclude American citizens from the Regulations as to registration.

Mr. DAVIES

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, and I do not think the public interests would be served by exempting from these requirements all aliens of American or any other particular nationality.

Mr. MILLS

Can the Under-Secretary give the reason why American bandsmen are being allowed to come in?

Mr. DAVIES

That is a different question altogether.
