Commander BELLAIRSasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that his predecessor promised on 17th April, 1923, to convey a representation to the Pacific Cable Board as to the desirability of linking our Pacific cable with the American cables at Honolulu; whether he can state what reply was made; and whether the Pacific Cable Board are doing anything towards the duplication of the cable north of Fiji?
§ Mr. HARTSHORNThe matter was brought to the notice of the Pacific Cable Board. I understand that the Board prefer to follow the present route, and are now considering whether the duplication north of Fiji shall be by cable or by wireless.
