§ 6. Lieut. - Colonel HOWARD - BURYasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he has anything to add 1734 with regard to the Sirajganj resolution passed by the Swarajist party; and whether the Government adhere to their policy with regard to this matter?
§ Mr. RICHARDSThe answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. To the second part, I can only reply that no policy in regard to this matter has been advocated by the Government of India, by whose recommendations my noble Friend is content to be guided.
§ Lieut. - Colonel HOWARD - BURYDoes the glorification and laborious eulogy of Mr. Das as being a saintly person denote a change of policy on the part of His Majesty's Government, and is the hon. Gentleman aware that the Secretary of State's recent utterance has made not only him but Mr. Das an object of ridicule throughout India?
§ Mr. RICHARDSThere is no indication of a change of policy on the part of the Government.
