HC Deb 28 July 1924 vol 176 cc1749-50
20. Sir JOHN PENNEFATHER

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government is preparing a Bill to give Old Age Pensions at 65 years; and, if so, when that Bill will be introduced?

The PRIME MINISTER

I cannot at present add anything to the statement male by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on this subject on the 25th June in the Debate on the Old Age Pensions Financial Resolution.

Sir J. PENNEFATHER

Are we to understand from the answer given that there is no truth in the statement that the Government are actually preparing such a Bill?

The PRIME MINISTER

Not necessarily. If the hon. Member will refer to the statement of my right hon. Friend, he will see that that possibility is not at all ruled out.
