HC Deb 22 July 1924 vol 176 c1125
71. Mr. R. JACKSON

asked the Post master-General whether he is aware of the extraordinary delay in the delivery of parcels in Italy posted from Ipswich, such parcels not being received by the Italian firms within 16 days of their despatch from Ipswich, whereas similar parcels posted from London, Leeds, and even Ire land have been received by the same Italian customers within eight days of postage; and, in view of the serious loss of orders thus incurred by Ipswich traders, will he fake immediate steps to remove the causes of such handicap upon their trading activities?

Mr. HARTSHORN

Parcels posted in Ipswich for transmission to Italy are sent forward from this country without delay. I shall be glad to have inquiry made in Italy if the hon. Member will let me have particulars of the case which he has in mind.

Mr. JACKSON

If I give the right hon. Gentleman cases of delay, will he inquire into them?

Mr. HARTSHORN

If my hon. Friend will give mo evidence, I will see that the matter is attended to, but I am assured that the delay is not here.
