HC Deb 10 July 1924 vol 175 cc2439-40
22. Commander BELLAIRS

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware that of over 22,000 justices' off-licences, granted for the convenience of the public, a steadily increasing number have become tied to brewers; whether he has any information as to the number so tied; and whether he will introduce legislation to prevent further off-licences becoming tied and to facilitate the liberation of off-licences at present tied?

Mr. HENDERSON

I have no information as to the number of off-licences which are tied to brewers. I see no prospect of the introduction of legislation on the subject by the Government at present.
