HC Deb 09 July 1924 vol 175 cc2225-6
2. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what arrangements are proposed for safeguarding the water supply of Egypt drawn from the portions of the Nile outside Egyptian jurisdiction and control?

Mr. PONSONBY

The water supply of Egypt can be safeguarded by an agreement.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

Is this matter one of the subjects to be discussed?

Mr. PONSONBY

Yes, this is one of the subjects which will be under discussion if the Egyptian Prime Minister comes over here.

Mr. RONALD McNEILL

May I ask whether, in the event of the British Administration remaining in the Sudan, there will be any danger to the water supply of Egypt?
