HC Deb 09 July 1924 vol 175 c2249
61. Sir K. WOOD

asked the Minister of Health whether there has been any increase in the price of building materials, such as lead water-pipes and barrel-pipes due to the increasing demand of foreign markets for these goods?

Mr. WHEATLEY

There have been considerable fluctuations in the prices of such materials as lead and iron water pipes during the last four years. I am not able to say to what extent these fluctuations have been due to the demand of foreign markets. They have, no doubt, been due to various and usual circumstances, but especially to the fluctuations in the prices of raw materials.
