HC Deb 08 July 1924 vol 175 cc1964-5
57. Mr. FRANKLIN

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the total number and amount of guarantees that have been applied for and granted during the last six months under the Trades Facilities Act; how many applications have been made for guarantees under £10,000; how many have been granted; and how many are now under consideration?

Mr. SNOWDEN

With the hon. Member's permission I will circulate in the OFFICIAL REPORT the figures in reply to this question.

Following is the reply:

Some 400 applications for guarantees under the Trade Facilities Acts have been made in the last six months, the amount involved being £40,000,000. The Treasury have guaranteed, or expressed their willingness to guarantee, 33 loans for an aggregate of £10,000,000. Fifty applications aggregating £250,000 were for guarantees for sums less than £10,000. Two such applications are at present under consideration; none have so far been granted.
