§ 34. Mr. WADDINGTONasked the Minister of Labour if he has yet received information as to the terms of settlement in the Dutch cotton textile trade dispute, and whether the terms include a reduction in wages as well as an increase in hours of labour; and, if so, as the British textile trade has voluntarily adopted the 48-hour week, will he negotiate with the Dutch Government to again reduce the working week in Holland to 48 hours?
§ Mr. SHAWIn accordance with the promise given in my reply to the hon. Member on 28th May, inquiries were made as to the terms of settlement of this dispute. I was informed that no official data were available. A further inquiry has now been made and any particulars received as the result thereof will be communicated to the hon. Member.
