HC Deb 21 January 1924 vol 169 c482
14. Mr. LINFIELD

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether France is repaying any part of her War Debt to America, Japan, Switzerland, or Spain?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Neville Chamberlain)

Repayments of debts contracted in the countries named during the War have from time to time been made by France, but the information at my disposal does not enable me to say how far these repayments go beyond market debts.

Mr. LINFIELD

Has any demand been made of the French Government to arrange terms of repayment with the British Government?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir.
