HC Deb 21 January 1924 vol 169 c518
51. Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Labour whether he is aware that certain trades unions prevent unemployed men starting work unless they are in benefit with the unions; and, in that case, how many such unions there are and how many men are thereby normally affected?

Mr. BETTERTON

There is no information available which would enable me to give my hon. Friend the number of cases of the kind to which he refers.
