HC Deb 21 January 1924 vol 169 cc516-7
41. Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Under-Secretary for Labour if he is aware that a good number of men who reside in Plaistow and Canning Town have to register at the Poplar Employment Exchange; if he can state whether any arrangements can be made for the men in question to register at one of the Employment Exchanges at Canning Town: and if he will take action in the matter?

Mr. BETTERTON

I am not aware of cases such as those suggested by the hon. Member. Applicants normally attend the Employment Exchange nearest to their place of residence, and are advised to do so if they present themselves elsewhere. If the hon. Member will give me details I will have inquiries made.
