HC Deb 21 January 1924 vol 169 cc487-8
16. Mr. HUDSON

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what portion of the proposed loan to Hungary will be floated in this country; and if the Government proposes to guarantee it under the Trade Facilities Act?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

It is impossible at this stage to make any statement with regard to the issue of a Hungarian loan. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative; such loan not being within the terms of the Act.

Mr. HUDSON

Has any demand been made by the right hon. Gentleman, as a preliminary to these loans, to insist that the persecution that is now going on against the trade unionists of Hungary shall cease?
