HC Deb 19 February 1924 vol 169 c1525
55. Sir FREDRIC WISE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if Great Britain has paid her silver indebtedness (Pitman) to the United States of America; and, if so, what is the amount?

Mr. SNOWDEN

The debt amounted to $122,017,633, and has been repaid, the last payment having been made in September last.

Sir F. WISE

May I ask if that amount is debited to what is called the "Baldwin Sinking Fund?"

Mr. SNOWDEN

It has always been regarded as outside the ordinary War Debt.
