HC Deb 19 February 1924 vol 169 c1526
57. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the original cost of the Avonmouth controlled factory, near Bristol; whether it has been sold; if so, at what price; and who bought it?

Mr. GRAHAM

His Majesty's Factory Avonmouth, the original cost of which was approximately one and a half million pounds, has been transferred to the National Smelting Company, Limited. The transfer formed part of a general settlement which disposed of a number of claims and counterclaims outstanding between the company and Government Departments. Under that settlement the Government has received a net sum of £115,000.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

But what sum did the factory represent as against the other claims?

Mr. GRAHAM

I should require notice of that question. The claim is very complicated, but if the hon. and gallant Member will give further notice, or will consult me personally, I think I can give him the information for which he asks.
