§ 57. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHYasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the original cost of the Avonmouth controlled factory, near Bristol; whether it has been sold; if so, at what price; and who bought it?
Mr. GRAHAMHis Majesty's Factory Avonmouth, the original cost of which was approximately one and a half million pounds, has been transferred to the National Smelting Company, Limited. The transfer formed part of a general settlement which disposed of a number of claims and counterclaims outstanding between the company and Government Departments. Under that settlement the Government has received a net sum of £115,000.
§ Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHYBut what sum did the factory represent as against the other claims?
Mr. GRAHAMI should require notice of that question. The claim is very complicated, but if the hon. and gallant Member will give further notice, or will consult me personally, I think I can give him the information for which he asks.
