HC Deb 12 February 1924 vol 169 c712
2. Dr. CHAPPLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether any experimental investigation is taking place in order to ascertain whether beef imported from Australia and New Zealand can be shipped in a chilled instead of a frozen condition?

The MINISTER of HEALTH (Mr. Wheatley)

Arrangements have been made for an experimental shipment of chilled beef, treated by a special preservative process, to be sent from New Zealand to this country, for the purpose of examination on behalf of the Departmental Committee which is at present considering the use of preservatives in food.
