§ 66. Mr. STRANGERasked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been called to the increasing number of police charges under the Motor Car Acts and the convictions recorded for these offences; and whether, in view of the necessity for maintaining a high state of efficiency and care in the motor traffic, he will take such steps as will result in the automatic suspension or withdrawal of licences in cases of those convicted of driving to the danger of the public?
Mr. DAVIESI have been asked to reply. I am not in favour of the automatic suspension or withdrawal of a licence on the conviction of its holder, and consider that each case should be dealt with by the Court in its direction.
