§ Lieut.-Colonel LANE-FOXIn 1922, of 2,911 mines working under the Coal Mines Act, horses were employed in 1,699, leaving 1,212 mines in which haulage was done by mechanical means or by hand labour or both. I have not the information which would enable me to answer the second part of the question.
