§ Sir M. BARLOWThe course of training for small shopkeepers lasts three months. Part is given in an institution and part in a shop. Men are not placed in training unless local evidence shows that there is an opening in which they are likely to do well. A grant is made at the conclusion of training. The course of training for general repairs will last 12 months. The course includes 1356 rough carpentry, minor household repairs, simple accounts and elementary estimating. A grant may be made at the conclusion of training, if satisfactory.
