Lieut.- Colonel DALRYMPLE WHITE,asked the Minister of Health, whether, in view of the deleterious effect on public health of smoke fogs, he will make regulations that all houses in future erected with the aid of public money shall be fitted with smoke-consuming appliances or with grates adapted to the burning of smokeless fuel pending comprehensive legislation on the whole question of smoke control?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI sympathise with the desire to reduce the emission of smoke, but I should consider it very un 504 desirable to impose such restrictions as are suggested at the present time of serious shortage of houses.
