§ Captain ELLIOT (Parliamentary Under-Secretary of Health, Scotland)The amount expended in Scotland up to 3rd instant in the provision of poor relief to destitute able-bodied persons out of employment was approximately £1,933,000. The amount borrowed by parish councils for that purpose on the security of the assessments is £1,573,600.
