HC Deb 12 March 1923 vol 161 cc1041-2
92. Sir N. MOORE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for whether any tenders have been called for the supply of tinned meat for the Army; and whether, in considering these tenders, any special consideration is given in cases where the meat is produced within British Dominions?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Lieut.-Colonel Jackson)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the latter part, special consideration is given to offers for canned meat produced within the Empire whenever supplies are required by the War Office. I regret, however, that owing to the great difference in prices on the last tendering it was not possible to place the order with Dominion producers.

Sir N. MOORE

When was the Order placed?

Lieut.-Colonel JACKSON

I must have notice of that question.
