§ 86. Mr. TILLETTasked the Minister of Health whether he can inform the House at what date will be issued the proposals to give effect to the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on meat inspection?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINEffect has already been given to the recommendations of the Departmental Committee which deal with the question of uniformity in meat inspection by the issue of a circular and memorandum to local authorities in March, 1922. I will send the hon. Member a copy of these documents. Regulations have been drafted to give effect to the Committee's recommendations in regard to the marking of meat, and these are under discussion with the parties interested. Regulations are also being prepared dealing with the transport and handling of meat, but I am not yet able to say on what date these Regulations will be issued.
§ Mr. A. V. ALEXANDERWhen the right hon. Gentleman says discussion with the parties, does he mean the trade, and, if so, have the Department forwarded copies to the co-operative movement?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI cannot say now whether the co-operative movement are included, but all parties who are properly interested will certainly be taken into consideration.
§ Mr. SHORTCan the right hon. Gentleman expedite the issuing of this farther circular in connection with the handling of meat?
