HC Deb 08 March 1923 vol 161 c696
27. Sir HARRY BRITTAIN

asked the Minister of Pensions the number of the staff employed at the pensions office at. Acton, and whether the building is now completely occupied?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Sir John Baird)

The present number of pensions staff employed at Acton is 4,772. The building is not at present completely occupied, but arrangements are now being made to occupy the vacant space by the transfer of other staffs early in May.

28. Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the Minister of Pensions whether, in collaboration with any other Department, he has been able to make arrangements for house accommodation for those members of the staff employed at the Acton office who desire to live in the neighbourhood; and, if not, will he agree to consider this matter?

Major TRYON

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave to him on the 14th December last, when I stated that schemes for the erection of a number of houses in the neighbourhood of Acton had been approved by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Health. The allotment of the houses rests with the local authorities concerned.
