EVANSasked the Prime Minister, in view of the fact that this House has in effect no control whatsoever over expenditure, whether he will set up a Royal Commission to explore the possibilities of introducing other and more satisfactory measures whereby this House would have a certain amount of control over all national expenditure?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI do not agree that the House has no effective control over expenditure, and I do not think any useful result would follow from the appointment of a Royal Commission.
