(London) in July, 1921, the Board of Education have refused to recognise for grant the expenditure involved in granting such allowances for the period 1st August, 1921, to 31st March, 1922?
Mr. WOODIn the particular case to which, no doubt, my hon. Friend is refer- 1035 ring, the authority did not apply for the recognition of the payment in question for the purposes of grant until October, 1922, though the teacher obtained her qualification 15 months earlier. The Board have now, generally speaking, no authority to recognise for grant expenditure on retrospective payments.
