§ 52. Mr. SHINWELLasked the Prime Minister whether he has formed any estimate as regards trade prospects for next winter; and whether, in the event of further' depression, the Cabinet propose to put into operation schemes to meet the situation, particularly in relation to the question of unemployment?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI would refer the hon. Member to the statement made by the President of the Board of Trade in Committee of Supply on the 18th July, and, as regards the last part of the question, to the answer which I gave on Wednesday last in reply to questions on this subject.
§ Mr. SHINWELLHaving regard to the statement of the President of the Board of Trade relating to trade prospects in the coming winter, is it not desirable for the Government to put before the House, before the Adjournment, some scheme which it is proposed to put into operation?
§ The PRIME MINISTERThe hon. Member may have forgotten that a discussion on this subject was promised, and will, I believe, as a matter of fact, take place to-morrow.
