HC Deb 26 July 1923 vol 167 cc679-80
13. Mr. FLANAGAN

asked the Minister of Pensions what is the number of officers and men who have made claims in respect of disablement by War service, and the number who have succeeded in establishing their claims?

Major TRYON

Slightly less than two million officers and men had made claims in respect of disablement up to the 31st March last. Of these over 1,600,000 claims, or approximately five out of every six claims have been established.

Mr. SOMERVILLE

Is it the case that about two out of every five men who enlisted received compensation?

Major TRYON

That figure is approximately correct. Out of every five men who enlisted about two received compensation in some form from the Government.
