§ 54. Mr. MILLARasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he proposes to introduce a Supplementary Estimate for the purpose of providing for the extra 223 outlay required to meet the increase of the salaries of ex-service civil servants, as recommended by the Southborough Committee and accepted by the Treasury; and whether, in any event, in view of the recent Treasury minute calling for economy measures to secure the availability of sufficient savings to meet the increases recommended, he can assure the House that such extra outlay will not be met by reducing the remuneration of other already low-paid civil servants?
