HC Deb 23 July 1923 vol 167 c18
23. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has received a communication from the Archbishop of Cyprus protesting against the present administration of that island and requesting connection with Greece and the abolition of the Turkish tribute on the Cyprus estimates; whether a delegation appointed by the National Assembly of Cyprus has waited upon him to convey the demands of a national conference held in the island on the lines indicated; and, if so, will he state the result of any such interview.

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

The Secretary of State has received the communication from the Archbishop to which the hon. Member refers—but has not yet replied to it, as he thought it desirable to wait a reasonable time for the arrival of the delegation, which has not yet reached this country.
