Mr. RHYS DAVIESasked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has received a communication from the Archbishop of Cyprus protesting against the present administration of that island and requesting connection with Greece and the abolition of the Turkish tribute on the Cyprus estimates; whether a delegation appointed by the National Assembly of Cyprus has waited upon him to convey the demands of a national conference held in the island on the lines indicated; and, if so, will he state the result of any such interview.
§ Mr. ORMSBY-GOREThe Secretary of State has received the communication from the Archbishop to which the hon. Member refers—but has not yet replied to it, as he thought it desirable to wait a reasonable time for the arrival of the delegation, which has not yet reached this country.
