§ 62. Mr. HURDasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury if there are any 2051 institutions legally known as peculiar places or otherwise in which alcoholic liquors are obtainable free of duty; and, if so, will he state the reason for their exemption?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSIf, as I assume, my hon. Friend refers to alcoholic liquors for use as beverages, I am not aware of any institutions legally known as "peculiar places" or otherwise in which alcoholic liquors are obtainable free of duty. I shall be glad if my hon. Friend can give me privately the address of any such peculiar place.
§ Mr. HURDIs it not the fact that certain members of the legal profession are enabled to obtain large glasses of beer for a penny?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSI think that must apply, not to my branch but to other branches of the profession.
