HC Deb 16 July 1923 vol 166 c1844
6. Mr. SAKLATVALA

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India when the Act for legalising and protecting trade unions in India was first drafted; how long has it been under consideration of the various provincial Governments and public bodies in India; when is the final draft likely to be ready; and will any opportunity be given to this House of seeing the final draft before it passes into law in India, and before it obtains the final sanction of the Secretary of State for India in Council?

Earl WINTERTON

The Government of India first addressed provincial Governments on the subject of legislation for the registration and protection of trade unions in a letter of 12th September, 1921. The matter is still under consideration and I am unable to say when the final draft of the Bill will be ready. Copies will be available for the Library as soon as it is introduced.
