HC Deb 16 July 1923 vol 166 cc1849-50
14. Mr. BECKER

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies if his attention has been called to the fact that the Rutenburg Company in Palestine is erecting electric standards in Jaffa against the wishes of the municipality; is this being done with the Government's consent; and will he take steps to inquire into this owing to the unrest that is being caused by this action?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

I am not aware that the Jaffa municipality has opposed the erection of electric standards in Jaffa. Nor am I aware that their erection, which has the full consent of the Palestine Government, has been the cause of unrest.
