§ Mr. HANNON(by Private Notice) asked the President of the Board of Trade if he has any statement to make about the present position of the proposed Commercial Treaty with Czechslovakia?
§ The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of TRADE (Sir Philip Lloyd-Greame)A treaty to facilitate trade between the two countries, the terms of which are highly satisfactory to both parties, was signed on Saturday. It will come into force temporarily on 1st September pending ratification, and the full text will appear in the "Board of Trade Journal" on Thursday this week.
The conclusion of the Treaty was greatly facilitated by the presence of Dr. Benes, and the House will, I am sure, be glad that his visit should have been marked by an arrangement so satisfactory to both countries.
§ Mr. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAINDoes the right hon. Gentleman—as I presume he does—intend to lay the Treaty as a White Paper?
§ Sir P. LLOYD-GREAMEI will consider that. I do not think it is generally done in the case of commercial treaties, but whatever be the ordinary practice will be followed.
§ Mr. CHAMBERLAINI think the House knows that the custom is when- 1878 ever these papers have been referred to in the "Board of Trade Journal" they should be laid?
§ Sir P. LLOYD-GREAMECertainly, they are published in the "Board of Trade Journal." But the usual method will be followed.
