HC Deb 05 July 1923 vol 166 c614
61. Mr. EDE

asked the Minister of Agriculture the total number of men settled on the land by the Surrey County Council on its Little Woodcote Estate, the number of cottages erected, and the total cost of these cottages?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Sir Robert Sanders)

The total number of small holdings provided on the estate in question is 79, of which one is at present unoccupied. 78 cottages have been erected at a total cost, including drainage and water supply, of £87,875. I should mention that the cottages were commenced in March, 1920, when the cost of building was at its highest.

Mr. EDE

Does the figure which the right hon. Gentleman has given include the cost of the weather boarding of the cottages put in to remove the defects which were discovered in the original building?

Sir R. SANDERS

Yes, it does.
