HC Deb 04 July 1923 vol 166 cc442-3
80. Sir A. HOLBROOK

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the nature of the complaints, if any, made with reference to the printing of the "London Gazette" by Messrs. Wyman; and was there any particular complaint which led to the notice being given to terminate their contract?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

This contract was determined because the Treasury were of opinion that the work could be more advantageously carried out elsewhere, and therefore decided to take the opportunity of a break to give notice. It was not necessary to state any specific reason as the period had run out.

Sir A. HOLBROOK

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that he said last week that specific complaints had been made? What are they?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

My hon. Friend must have run me into saying more than I intended. I think we gave notice, and we were entitled to give notice. I do not want to cast any aspersions.

Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

Will the right hon. Gentleman inform the House whether this is to be the general practice?
