§ 9. Sir C. YATEasked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies what are the qualifications for the franchise in each of the British Dominions for British subjects entering those Dominions from Great Britain or any other parts of the Empire?
§ Mr. ORMSBY-GOREIn all the Dominions there is a residential qualification for the franchise, but when the prescribed term of residence has been fulfilled, a British subject entering a 13 Dominion becomes qualified for the franchise on the same conditions as British subjects permanently settled in the Dominion. I regret that it is not possible to deal fully with the matter in detail within the limits of a reply to a question, but I shall be happy to furnish my hon. Friend with further information if he so desires and will communicate with me.
