HC Deb 01 August 1923 vol 167 cc1479-80
Lieut.-Colonel Sir J. GILMOUR

(by Private Notice) asked Mr. Speaker whether he has now considered the Report of the Select Committee of the House of Commons Gallery accommodation, and what action he proposes to take thereupon?

Mr. SPEAKER

Yes, I understand that the Select Committee was unanimous in its recommendations, and they may be taken to represent the views of the House. I propose, therefore, with the co-operation of the First Commissioner of Works, at the beginning of the Autumn sitting, to make arrangements for the proposed Dominions' Gallery to be available for visiting members of Dominion Parliaments and High Commissioners. One point of detail I reserve for further consideration: At certain seasons of the year it may be that there are few or no members of Dominion Parliaments in London, and in that case it may be desirable to admit other distinguished visitors from the Dominions, or elsewhere.
