HC Deb 01 August 1923 vol 167 c1438
11. Captain ERSKINE-BOLST

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Soviet Government has demanded a payment of 150,000,000 roubles for each grave in the private British burial ground at Taganrog and that, failing immediate payment, the graves and monuments will be destroyed; and whether he will protest against this threatened desecration of British graves?

Mr. McNEILL

His Majesty's Government have received no information as regards either of the statements made by the hon. and gallant Member in the first part of his question. The second part, therefore, does not arise. If, however, the hon. and gallant Member will provide me with further particulars, I will cause inquiries to be made.
